A fire landing valve is a crucial component installed in wet riser systems of multi-story buildings to provide firefighters with a reliable water supply on upper floors.
Typically located inside dedicated stairwells or fire escape lobbies on each floor, the landing valve is connected to a pressurized water main running vertically through the building. It features an outlet with standard fire hose couplings, allowing crews to quickly attach their hoses.
The valve itself is normally kept closed, and in an emergency, firefighters open the valve to access water immediately, eliminating the need to run hoses up from street level. Made from corrosion-resistant materials like gunmetal or brass, landing valves are essential for efficient and effective firefighting in high-rise buildings.
